Make your own Jewelery

Jewelery has always caught our attention since time immemorial. If you like metals, then you can opt for silver, gold, platinum or lesser metals. If you like beads, then you can go for beautiful beaded necklaces, bracelets and earrings. If stones are more your thing, then there is a vast array to choose from. The list of Jewelery options is long and interesting indeed.
Now, most people combine the various materials used in Jewelery making. For instance, we see beautiful pieces of gold, embedded with precious stones. One of the best combinations, however, is pearl and silver. The look is pure and very subtle. The whiteness of the pearl and the neutrality of silver speak of class and elegance.
While it is easy and convenient to shop for silver and pearl Jewelery (In Danish perlesmykker ), it can get pretty expensive. So, what do you do if you’re a fan of this very pretty combination? Using basic tools and a little know-how, you can also create your very own Jewelery piece. You can also make some for your friends and family for their anniversaries or birthdays.
  • Measure the size of your finger using a piece of yarn, adding a few inches more to accommodate the pearl/pearls.
  • Next, insert the piece of silver wire into the pre-drilled pearl and bend it with pliers so that the pearl fits snugly.
  • Then, wrap the wire once more around and through the pearl so that a ring is formed.
  • Finally, solder the ends of the wire together to complete the ring.
This technique is a simple way to create pearl Jewelery. You can also design your very own silver Jewelery (In Danish sølvsmykker) by adding baubles and pendants to an existing silver base. If you want to use other materials, you can try baked polymer clay and attach it to a string of silver.
Most Jewelery these days isn’t just for the monied folk. Besides, creating your own can be a fun and worthwhile project and if you’re good with your hands, you may even be able to sell your creations. All you need is a little knowledge and a lot of practice. Making your own Jewelery to present as gifts to your dear ones also adds to its value.
